She approached a friend about what she should do with it and the reply was, “turn it into herb bundles.” It was like lightening hitting her head. She had been burning sage and Palo Santo as part of her rituals and rune work for years but had never thought to create her own herb bundles. Her next question, because she’s a bit of a pyro, was, “what else can I burn?” That simple question took her down a rabbit hole of delight. Because of the lay-offs and the lack of jobs to be had she was also going on long bike rides. Everywhere herbs and plants she could use started jumping out at her. She was making herb bundles and sending them off to everyone she knew until someone mentioned that she may want to sell them, and that is how we are here to day. Continuing to make herb bundles and other hand crafted ritual supplies.

I enjoy learning new skills and working with all types of media. I love to experiment and see the outcome. I have so many ideas to bring to light! I have a design/print background. The majority of my design work has been computer based for print, freelance or an employer. From a young age I loved being creative and knew I would always need to be hands on doing projects. I watched my grandmother oil paint all throughout my childhood. Being a busy mom of 4 all these years I haven't had the time to be as artistic as I would have liked. While being at home during the pandemic, I was inspired to do something other then binge watch TV. In April 2021 I decided to paint my first rock, after finding one on a walk. It turned out okay. However with practice my skills grew. I'm so proud of the progress I've made. I lived for painting every day. I had fun, it challenged me, and I enjoyed it. In 2022 I thought Macarema looked interesting and I would give that a go as well. While each new skill tests my abilities to thrive and adapt. This one I would say really tried my patience as I am not a wasteful person. I spent many times unnotting the cord because I had misstep. Now I have the confidence that I can create lovely masterpieces and cute little handmade pieces. My latest endeavor would be epoxy resign, In January of 2023 I decided that resin looks fun and it would be a great idea. Oh boy was I wrong!!!! This was the biggest test of it all. It is also my main focus of art now. Resin Is not easy, it takes a lot of work, and patience. You mostly learn by trial and error. I love it, and have so much fun with it. I am glad that I gave myself the oppurtiny to try this form or art. I always say that my art is unique one of a kind and imperfectly perfect. I try my best to get it perfect, I will always do my best to test my skills and techniques and get better. I have seen how much I have grown as an artist and cannot wait to see where it leads me in the future.

As a kid, Sherry’s bedtime heroes were Alfred Hitchcock and Edgar Allan Poe, and she’s still convinced The Twilight Zone made excellent bedtime reading. (Her parents may disagree.) Armed with degrees in Journalism, Photography, and Adult Education, Sherry found a way to merge all her creative obsessions—writing, teaching, and telling stories that make you sleep with one eye open. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her very patient husband—provider of chai tea lattes and lemon drop martinis—and a Burmese cat who insists on sharing her popcorn, pizza, and the occasional beer. A world traveler, U.S. Army veteran, and tireless writing advocate, Sherry has taught at Writers at Harriman, where she now serves as Director of the summer writing camp for high school students. She’s also the founder of the Idaho Screenwriters Association, and has been active in the Idaho Writers Guild, Romance Writers of America, and Idaho Sisters in Crime, and is also a professional speaker and workshop facilitator.

Ghostoria was born out of the boredom that was Covid 2020. Nathalie Kellow, the founding member, and a co-worker, started the group and originated formal tours at Gulley’s Butcher Shop in Astoria, Oregon. Not long after, Signe Condon joined them, and when the other member left, she stepped in and she and Nat became “partners in crime”. They have investigated over 50 locations together in the years since that fateful meeting in the underground of Astoria. The first Oregon Ghost Conference they attended was in 2022. They perused the vendors, got readings, went to classes, and participated in all the investigations. They had so much fun that they wanted to volunteer in any way they could. They were given an opportunity in 2023 to host two investigation locations for the OGC, and as they say, the rest is history. They have been vendors and investigation hosts every year since. In addition to the OGC investigations, they host public benefit investigations every October for the Liberty Theater and the Elks Lodge, both located in Astoria.

What started in 2015 as a simple one-man shop, with Steve Condon, the sole owner/artist, eventually evolved into a family business. His wife, Signe, joined him full-time tattooing in 2023 after more than 35 years as a bookkeeper. Steve has been tattooing for more than 12 years and is versed in many styles but specializes in black and gray. He does everything from simple script to flash art, to realism, to large custom pieces. Signe specializes in permanent makeup but enjoys doing body art as well. She also designs most of the more feminine/floral pieces that Steve tattoos. Although this will be his first time attending the conference, it won’t be for Signe. She is with the paranormal team Ghostoria and has been a participant of the OGC for several years. Steve is very excited to be a part of something that his wife is so passionate about. Steve will be the only artist working at the booth, but you may get the chance to have bragging rights of getting a ghost tattoo, from a ghost hunter, at a ghost conference as Signe will be popping in to do a few pieces throughout the weekend. When not at the conference, or ghost hunting, you can find them in their shop in historic downtown Astoria, Oregon where they have been residents for more than 30 years. As a side note, the shop’s underground location is a fantastic place for spirits to congregate, and they have made their presence known on many occasions!

Weird Darkness is hosted by voice actor, Darren Marlar, who is also the creator of the podcast. Darren Marlar lived in the Kansas City area for the majority of his childhood and teen years, and calls Olathe, Kansas his hometown. From elementary school onward he found himself entertaining people in some way or another. Acting on stage, singing in a variety of choral groups, being the front-man for rock bands, or as a soloist for competition and in churches, getting involved in community theater, and eventually discovering radio in 1990, in which he continues to be active still today. In 1995, Darren married his bride, Robin, and they are still very happily married. In 2004 Darren moved to the Rockford, Illinois area (northwest suburb of Chicago) and along with radio and acting in television and film, he also stepped into stand-up comedy (which he has since retired from).
